Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) are one of the Older American Act’s foundational principles to create programs and services to help support consumers in their homes. All states have Area Agencies on Aging and they offer different types of services.

The roles of AAAs:

  • Access community needs and develop and fund programs
  • Educate and provide direct assistance
  • Serve as portals to care
  • Demonstrate responsible fiscal stewardship

Your local AAA may offer many of these services:

  • Nutrition Programs
  • Health & Wellness
  • Transportation
  • Information & Referral
  • In-Home Services
  • Homemaker & Chore Services
  • Case Management
  • Dental & Vision Assistance
  • Elder Rights
  • Care giving Programs
  • SHIP Medicare Counseling
  • Long Term Care Ombudsman
