Covington, Louisiana - The Trace Senior Community in Covington, Louisiana is rescheduling the previously scheduled September 12, 2013 Groundbreaking to a future date due to a special consideration regarding a beloved oak tree.
The Trace, part of The Arcadia Communities, is a 77 apartment upscale residential retirement home for Independent, Assisted and Memory Care Residents. Due to the success of this senior community, a $3 million expansion is taking place, bringing the total investment to $15 million in the Covington location. The building plans will be altered to extend the safety zone circumference required to keep a healthy root system for the historic tree.
The Trace Executive Director, Richard Totorico, said “As we move forward on this exciting opportunity to provide exemplary care to the seniors of our community, we must ensure that we are preserving the history and beauty of the parish. To these ends we are working with local leaders and conservationist to preserve this historic and beautiful part of our culture.”
This kind of exemplary concern is an example of the type of the care extended to residents. The groundbreaking and plan for expansion is “Welcome Home” and promoted by the staff wearing yellow ribbons from groundbreaking to completion. The Welcome Home yellow ribbon will be the symbol as The Trace prepares with an “Expand, Enrich and Excitement” promotional plan to share the new extension. The plan includes: To expand with additional space and to enrich the lives of more seniors. The Trace will also be adding additional new features to add excitement for current residents which will include a chapel, lobby grand piano, a marketplace, spa facility and a new recreation pub center.
The Trace plans to tie 100 yellow ribbons around the oak tree to dedicate its special nature to the senior community. Many of the Trace residents are military veterans and The Trace is also using the symbol to honor them. Welcoming the other veterans in the community home is another special program that will be launched upon the completion of the expansion.
